Evaluation Question 1 - Part 3

In this part of the question, I will explain how I have used, developed or challenged real media conventions by comparing my advert that I have created with other real existing adverts, which also advertise music from real artists. My magazine advert shares the similar concept as all existing adverts, I have used Adele's magazine advert to create a house style concept, I have also used the same conventions as my digipak because I want the digipak and advert to be the same and portray the same message.

Evaluation Question 1 - Part 2..!!

In this part of the question, I will explain how I have used, developed or challenged real media conventions by comparing my digipak that I have created with other real existing digipaks from real artists, my digipak consists of a grey dark theme and the background is dominated by the park, I wanted to use the similar convention as Rhianna's digipak 'Loud' she has a lot of red whereas I have used  lots of grey, because grey portrays maturity and success. Furthermore I have used the colour orange against the grey background as this shows brightness I deliberately chose the colours to be orange, grey, white and black. This is because the colours represent positivity.

Evaluation Question1 - Part 1..!!

Final Magazine Advert..!!

My magazine advert process..!!

I wanted to keep my Magazine advet very simple, I wanted to have the same concept as Rihanna's album Loud, because the album and advert itself were very alike.
Here i added some links to the groups single as this is more realistic.
Here is the final magazine advert.

Final Digipak...!

This is my Final Digipak, this is the 6 panel pack for my album.
Front Cover-Final

Back Cover - Final

Some Changes..!

- This was my orginal idea for the 2nd panel of the digipak, however I wanted to change it as I had tried and tested different techniques, therefore I have created a new image on the right for the 2nd panel.

This is how I created the image.

Making of My digipak- back cover..!

I took an image of Fatiat, I wanted her to be in this position because I wanted to have a similar image that I had used in the test run, I want this to be my back cover as i want the music video to show some feelings therefore I wanted to use a sympathetic look as well as a optimistic look.

Here I used the eraser tool to erase the background as I did not need it.
Here I used my original backgrounf image I took of Myatts Field, I pasted the background image behind the 1st layer.
I then used the colour corrector tool and coloured Fatiat in as the same colour as the background as I wanted this image to blend in with the theme.

Here I then added the recording label and barcode to make my album look realistic.
Finally I added the text, I wanted the text colour to be white as it represents purity. And this is my final back cover -
This is my final front cover of the digipak..!

Research On Magazine Adverts..!

Magazines are used as a main source of advertisement in the media industry, magazines are usually distributed to target audiences and each magazine has a genre/category for example there are gardening, fashion, business, gossip and many more magazine types that interest different people in our society, therefore I believe my advertisement of the music video should be advertised in a magazine article that can be found in vogue, glamour or heat as they all directed to teen females therefore the article will attract our target audience.

Research On Digipaks..!

Digipaks typically consist of a 3-4 slide folds (book-style) which either holds a CD or DVD attached inside, however Digipak-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums recently record companies have introduced DVD sections which are now normally found in the 6 panel digipaks this extra addition has allowed audiences to not only listen to the artist but see their debut video or live performances on the DVD. However at first Digipaks were largely used by record companies to promote first time artists in the music industry as this allowed the artists to grow its audience globally, therefore digipaks are seen as an alternative to promote and advertise music.

Here are some examples of existing digipaks :

Digi-Pak Analysis - Rihanna 'Take a bow'

This is the front cover of Rihanna's single 'Take a bow' the colours are very neutral her image is in the position of taking a bow which compliments her song title. I like this cover because it is lit bright with neutral colours and the title is simple with black and pink writing.

This is the CD of Rihanna's single, it is exactly the same as the front cover.

Update On Editing!

The group and I have finished majority of the editing we only have the chorus to do, firstly our idea for the chorus was to film the singer singing the chorus however the filming of the singer was not lip synced with the words and the timing was not correct, therefore we are going to stick with our original idea of using words for the chorus. Overall the editing process has been fun but time consuming, however we have tried to keep the editing at a high standard, hopefully our editing for the chorus will be done.

Camera Shots And Angles!

We used these shots as an idea for our music video; we have used the majority of camera angles such as long shot, high shot, low shot, close up, the 180 degree rule and an established shot at the beginning of the video.

Digi-Pak Analysis - Adele 21 Album

'Adele 21 Album' - This is the front cover for Adele's album the colours used to design this cover are very dark and grey. The image of Adele dominates the front cover, it is a closeup of her shoulders up to her face. The colour grey in the background shows a representation of a cool and conservative colour. Adele's album has been a greatest hit worldwide. Additionally I think the simplicity of her cover compares accordingly with the theme of her music. Also the writing is very simple and the '21' is outlined in green which shows quite a bit of nature, and naturalistic connotations.

This is Adeles album CD, it is also very simplistic and the domination of the colour green refers to 'eternal life' which may mean her album songs will never be forgotten. Also 21 is outlined in white which represents pure/sacred. Overall the two colours compliment each other and it keeps a simple connotation of the CD.

This is the back cover of Adele's album it consists of a bar code, a list of all the songs in the CD, also there is a image of only her face which dominates her back cover. Overall the layout of the albums cover shows a modest and conservative view of her album.

Part 1 Of Our Storyboards!

Here we have included the scene details and which camera angles should be used.

In this storyboard we have focused more on how the scenes sequence will run and how long each shot will be.

Pictures Of Our Locations!!

Here are some locations we used for our music video however we have not used all of these locations as we thought not all of them will be relevant to use.

Video Editing Process...

We used the Mac book to edit our music video,  we used final cut pro as this allowed us to cut and copy any relevant effects we wanted also we were able to use our track and edit the scenes accordingly to the song, overall the editing process was difficult at first however it became easier towards the end.

Here are some images of our editing in process:

The Filming Process!!

The Filming Process took about 2-3months, we time scheduled our plans so we can ensure we can make the most out of our filming and start editing as soon as possible, however we did come across some disturbance during the filming process for example bad weather therefore some filming had to be delayed.
Furthermore we have managed to finish filming, and we have started the editing process, which we also intend to finish fairly soon. During the filming we only needed actors for the specific scenes that we were shooting that day as this allows the group members to have a turn at the camera and demonstrate their own camera skills.
However due to bad weather i personally think we could have filmed more variety of shots, but we have included all shots as outlined in our storyboard, and the filming process as whole was a success as we as a team were on time and got the filming done as a group!
This is when the filming was being done inside our school studio, we had the correct lighting as planned.

Our Preps and Props!!

This room is in Archbishop Tenisons School, we used this room for one of our scene as it had good lighting and the setting was perfect for our scene.
Makeda filmed the day to night scene, this scene matches perfectly with our outro as it smoothly compares with the beat and enters out our music video to end the video.

This is one of the crop/costume that we used for our actor. We wanted our characters to wear casual clothing to represent a realism theme of for our music video.

This is the phone we used for our scene.

This was used for the drug, however it is not real we used soap powder to use as cocaine.
We used this microphone for the singer and to record our track for good quality sound.

Scene Location!!

We were very confused at first were we should film, however we came to a conclusion of keeping the scene location simple, as our music video does not require as much of an attention through the location of the scene therefore we thought of using the park-Myatts Field Park,

Myatts Field Park was a very great option as it was nearby and we did not have to lose time over having to travel further into the city, however using the park was very resricting as we would have liked to included some unigue locations, on the other hand using local locations saved us time and we were able to finish and capture and filming on time.

Additionally we used the studio and toilet room for some scenes this was within charles edward brooke school, this was also a easy option for us as we were able to meet deadlines and schedule our time appropiatley,
We used this house to film in, we used the windows to film through to show the front of the actor walking towards the camera.

futhermore we used the common room from Archbishop Tenison School, also the sunset scene is the unique scene in our music video so far, because it is different and shows the contrast from day to night to end the video.
